Permaculture Convergence at Merritt college
The Merritt Permaculture Solstice Convergence will be from noon to 7pm on Sunday June 20th 2010 at Merrritt Landscape Horticulture Department.
We have many Permaculture, Natural Building, Organic Gardening, Urban Agriculture, Wilderness, and Feral Skills presentations planned, from herbs and mushrooms to garden construction, composting, organic gardening, beekeeping, aquaculture, and garden/wilds to table cooking demos.
The general schedule for the event will be:12-1 Orientations/Meet and Greet/Booths/Music/Herbalemonade Teatime Social Hour1-1:15 Opening Ceremonies1:30-3 Landhort tours, demos, booths, and presentations 3-5 Skill Share Demos and Booths from the Permaculture, Farm/Gardening, and Urban Farming communities5-6:30 Potluck Dinner/Open Mike/Social Hour.5- Hide quoted text -6:30-7 Cleanup

Cooking, the way it was meant to be...straight from the garden. Join us for a transformational and empowering experience in the world of healthy cooking.
Therapeutic Chef Jay Holecek takes you on a guided tour through the unique space of an urban permaculture garden where you will learn about and collect some of the plants to be used in our classes. The remainder of the classes will be in spent in the kitchen space of the healing center to prepare meals and enjoy our creations together in a therapeutic atmosphere...

Intro to Therapeutic cooking : (May 21st, 4hrs)
Learn the simple techniques and common foods that you can use to improve you and your loved ones health. We will be starting in the “kitchen Garden” and collecting some ingredients to be used to prepare a nutrient rich meal together and enjoying our creations in a peaceful setting.
Garden to Garden cooking : (June 4th,4hrs)
Learn the advanced cooking skills needed to cook improvisational meals from yourgarden.We’ll receive a guided tour of “Wildheart Gardens”(an urban Permaculture farm). Then learn to prepare meals with your garden and health in mind so as to get the most from your garden and give the most back.

Yearly event at First Presbyterian church of Berkeley to raise awareness of the areas of sustainable living they have direct relation to. I'll be running the "Sustainable Food" Booth with another Chef and plenty of samples and info for practical resources to make lasting changes.
